Shipping Overview

Dear customer,

We receive many inquiries about shipping charges and how they are calculated.
Shipping is a complicated issue, and we will try to explain it the best we can below.

The shopping cart will AUTOMATICALLY calculate the shipping of your order at the checkout page, after you enter your address.
The shopping cart dials DIRECTLY into the US Postal Service's database to retrieve live shipping prices based on weight and zip code.

***NOTE:   US Postal Service prices increase every year in January****

USA addresses
We ship primarily through the US Postal Service (USPS).
Orders shipped to USA addresses are calculated as follows:

Orders over $150 receive FREE shipping by "best way" (meaning the most economical method).
This is can be Priority Mail, USPS First Class Mail or USPS Ground.

***Exception:   some heavy items, such as die cutting machine, are not eligible for free shipping due to the high cost we cannot absorb.

Orders under $150 are calculated by the WEIGHT and DESTINATION according to USPS rates .

If your package weighs 12 ounces or under, the shopping cart will give you 3 shipping options:
-First Class Parcel  (generally approximately $4.50 to $7 depending on weight and zip code destination)
-Priority Mail at the 1 pound rate for your zip code
-Parcel Ground at the 1 pound rate for your zip code

Please note:   First Class Parcel prices START at 4 ounces (not our rules, USPS rules)
Even if you have just 1 tiny item, the US Postal Service charges for 4 ounces

****EXCEPTION:   If your package contains 12"x12" items, such as papers or stencils, we ask that you ONLY CHOOSE PRIORITY.   Why?  Because to ship 12"x12" items, and protect them well enough, we have to use a box big enough to fit.   That box weighs 8 ounces just by itself.     If you still elect First Class Parcel and your order contains 12"x12" papers, we will do our best to protect the items, but we cannot be held responsible if your papers are cornered or bent when they arrive.

If your package weighs over 12 ounces, but under 2 pounds, the shopping cart will give you 3 shipping options:
-Priority Mail at the rate for the weight of your package and your zip code
    -Priority Mail Flat Rate Box
-Parcel Ground at the rate for the weight of your package and your zip code

Please note:   Priority Mail prices START at 1 pound and continue in 1 pound increments (again, not our rules, USPS rules)
Even if the package is just 1 ounce over 1 pound, the US Postal Service charges for 2 pounds

Packages shipped by Priority Mail are charged at the actual Priority Mail retail prices.  The US Postal Service raises their package prices EVERY YEAR, mid-January.

SAVING you money by using "Flat Rate" shipping options:

The US Postal Services offers many "flat rate" shipping options.  These are specific size envelopes and boxes for 1 specific rate, which is often lower than the "by weight" rate.
The catch here is that your order MUST fit inside their prescribed boxes.  For example, if your order has a large trimmer, we can't fit that into their "flat rate" boxes.

Whenever possible, we will use one of these options and REFUND YOU the difference in shipping, if greater than $2.  We cannot refund less than $2 due to the fees involved.  Yes, we get charged fees for giving you a refund!

For example, if your order from our store, to New York, weighs 4 pounds, the PER POUND rate is $25.45... and a Flat Rate Box is $15.95.
However, if your order contains smaller items that can fit in a FLAT RATE PADDED ENVELOPE, the rate is $9.95 and we would refund you the difference

The reason the shopping cart quotes by weight and zip code, and not all "flat rate" options is because it is a computer, and cannot determine if your items will fit in these options.
ONLY a human can make that determination.

We always always always try to save you money if we can!!!!    Please be assured that our long-time customers know this, and we spend a lot of time on processing refunds daily for shipping rate adjustments!

VERY HEAVY orders:
Lastly, if your order is very heavy and bulky, it is sometimes better to ship via FedEx.   This is rare.   In general, we ship about 450 to 500 packages per week through the US Postal Service, but only 1 or 2 per MONTH through FedEx.

ADDITIONAL NOTES:
Since we ship 99.99% through the US Postal Service, if your address is a PO Box, please indicate so.
Please use proper address format.   For example, if your PO Box is PO Box 45, do not write your address as 123 Main Street #45.   This means apartment #45.  We cannot guess that you "meant" PO Box 45.
Also, if you are having your package delivered at work, or at a business, please write the business name in the "company" line.  We sometimes get packages back because of this missing information.

INTERNATIONAL addresses
***As of December 31, 2020, we no longer ship to UK/EU/Europe addresses.   This is due to new laws which require us to obtain a tax account with every country in Europe, collect 20% VAT and redeem it to the each government.   We do not have the staff necessary to do this, therefore, we regret that we must discontinue orders to Europe.

We also no longer ship to countries that have inconsistent mail services:  South Africa, anywhere in South America, Mexico, etc. due to the issues we have we lost and stolen packages.

Orders shipped to an international address are calculated as follows:

If your package weighs UNDER 4 pounds (approx. 1.8 kilos), the shopping cart will give you 2 shipping options:
    -First Class International Parcel
    -Priority Mail International

First Class International:
Rates are calculated based on the weight of the package and the destination country.

First Class International rates START at 8 ounces (225 grams).   The next weight rate is 2 pounds (900 grams), followed by 3 pounds (1.3 kilos) and 4 pounds (1.8 kilos).
Example:
-if your package weighs 3 ounces (85 grams), we will be paying for 8 ounces (225 grams)
-if your package weighs 10 ounces (280 grams), we will be paying for 2 pounds (900 grams)

This means that if you buy 1 little die that weighs 1 ounce (25 grams), the US Postal Service will charge for 8 ounces (225 grams)!

NOTE:  First Class International packages are NOT searchable.  This means that if your package is taking a long time, or if it is lost, the US Postal Service will NOT search for it.   They do not allow us to file for a package search.   There is nothing we can do to find your package.   We just need to wait until it arrives.

Priority Mail International:
Rates are calculated based on the weight of the package and the destination country.

Priority Mail International rates START at 1 pound and continue in 1 pound increments.
If your package is OVER 4 pounds, you can ONLY use Priority Mail International.   First Class International is ONLY for packages under 4 pounds.

NOTE:  Priority Mail International packages are searchable.  This means that if your package is taking a long time, or if it is lost, the US Postal Service will search for it.   We must file an "international search claim" with them after 15 days from the date of mailing.  The US Postal Service then has up to 90 days to respond.

NOTE: international packages may be subject to in import tax (sometimes called Import Duty, Customs fees, or VAT) levied by your country.   We are NOT responsible for this tax.  We do not collect or receive any part of this tax.   Please be aware of your countries import laws, and that you may be asked to pay a tax by your government.

By law, we cannot lie on a customs form and state that what is inside is a gift.   Doing so puts our business at risk of being fined a very large fine.   We will not jeopardize our business in this way.   Please do not ask us to mark your package as "gift" or to write a low value on the declaration form.    We MUST write the full value, or US Customs will return the package to us, and we will have to pay shipping again to resend it.

In Conclusion

We understand that shipping is expensive.   We spend over $20,000 per month on postage, and another $1,500 on packaging supplies.
Please keep in mind that we try our best to offer fair pricing.
If you think our shipping prices are "too high", we are very sorry about this.

Shipping may be less at another store because they are located closer to you.... or because they base their shipping on the $ amount of your purchase.....  but you will find very few companies who REFUND your excess shipping when they use a Flat Rate shipping option!
We do not "make up" these rates.  They are created by the US Postal Service, and they go up every year!!!
